Our sessions are flexible and there are no minimum requirements. You can choose to use as many or as few of your child’s 20 FREE ECE hours as you want, up to 6 hours a day and 20 hours a week at a fully subsidised rate which means no extra costs to you. At The Village there are no additional charges for things like our weekly excursions, extra programmes or morning and afternoon tea..
Do you need more than 20 hours?
If you are working or studying for more than 20 hours per week, chances are that you may qualify for additional hours which are subsidised by WINZ. Depending on your circumstances it could mean there is no additional charge for these hours above the 20 Free ECE hours.
How do I apply for 20 ECE hours or WINZ Subsidies?
At the Village we apply for your 20 Free ECE hours and claim this subsidy directly from the Ministry of Education
For additional hours above 20 Free ECE hours, you apply directly to WINZ who review your application and determine what subsidies you may be eligible for. At The Village, we have WINZ Subsidy applications ready and waiting for you. We fill in our section, you complete your section and then you drop it off to WINZ. The WINZ Subsidy is paid directly to us weekly and credited to your account.
We are happy to discuss your circumstances and advise you on what you may be eligible for. Any subsidies above the 20 FREE ECE are dependent on WINZ approval.
WINZ Childcare Subsidies
Is your child under 3 years old?
WINZ subsidises 9 hours of care for most children under 3 years old. The rate of this subsidy is dependent on your family’s weekly income and other factors such as how many children you have living at home. It means that if your child is under 3 and attends The Village, they may receive a weekly subsidy towards the cost of part time childcare.
Do you need more than 9 hours?
If you are working, studying, caring for an unwell member of the family, unwell yourself or have a child who receives a disability allowance, chances are that you may qualify for more hours which are subsidised by WINZ. Depending on your circumstances, you may qualify for up to 50 hours of subsidy. This can mean that some or all of the charge for your child’s hours of care are paid by WINZ. Depending on your circumstances, it could mean there is no additional charge for the hours your child is enrolled with us at The Village.
How much can I earn and still qualify for a Subsidy?
Currently a family with only one child can earn up to $1400/week before tax before they no longer qualify for any subsidy. If your family has 2 children the cut off is $1600/week and if you have 3 or more children, you can earn up to $1800/week before you would no longer qualify for a subsidy. Anyone whose weekly income before tax is less than these figures will qualify for at least 9 hours of subsidy. Subsidy rates range from $5.06 per hour to $1.57. The rate WINZ will subsidise the hours you qualify for depends on different things, and each subsidy is assessed on an individual basis. These subsidies can significantly reduce the cost of part time childcare and can in some cases cover the full cost of full time care. These rates increase at times so if you don’t qualify now you may in the future
